Truth Over Fear: Navigating the Caregiver's Mind

Our brains are always creating stories or narratives to understand our world, and these stories shape how we see our children, ourselves, and the challenges we face. In times of stress, it's easy to get stuck in thinking traps that leave us feeling overwhelmed or discouraged. These thinking traps can distort the way we interpret and respond to the World around us.

Join us as we explore how our brains create these stories, learn practical tools to challenge unhelpful thinking, calm our nervous systems, and embrace a more flexible, truth-filled perspective. Rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and  Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), this session will offer encouragement and practical strategies to help you care for yourself as you care for others.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this training, participants will:

  • Understand how the brain creates narratives to make sense of experiences.
  • Recognize common thinking traps, especially under stress.
  • Learn why those thinking patterns developed in the first place.
  • Practice replacing rigid thinking with flexible "both/and" thinking.
  • Learn a simple mindfulness skill to create space before reacting.
