Reset the Soul: A Journey Toward the Days of Awe is a pre-High Holiday program series from Judaism Your Way that invites you to pause, reflect, and prepare, both spiritually and emotionally, for the sacred season ahead. Through intimate conversations and meaningful teachings, we’ll explore themes of prayer, fasting, loss, and the often-complicated relationship with God. This is a space to reset your soul, reconnect with your inner self, and enter the High Holidays with intention, openness, and authenticity.

Four Zoom sessions | Sunday evenings, 6-7 PM | August 24, 31; September 7, 14
Season pass: $72, Drop-in: $25 per session

August 24: High Holiday Hebrew 101
Curious about the meaning of the Hebrew words you’ll encounter during High Holiday services? This class is designed for beginners interested in establishing a foundation in core Hebrew vocabulary that will enhance their understanding of High Holiday prayers. Each student will receive resources to use for future reference and study. No Hebrew background is required — seriously!

August 31: Greatest Hits for God-Wrestlers
Discover the key prayers and texts of the High Holidays, and find meaningful points of connection in YOUR own way! Together, we will wrestle with the words of Avinu Malkeinu and Un’taneh Tokef to deepen our understanding of these passages during services. We will pay special consideration to metaphors for God.

September 7: The Ram in the Thicket: Reckoning with Loss & Life During the High Holidays
For many people, the High Holidays evoke deep questions and emotions surrounding loss and life. In this session, we will dive into these topics through text study and reflection. We’ll explore new perspectives on the complex story of the Binding of Isaac, bringing it into dialogue with our own lives and losses as we enter this High Holiday season.

September 14: “I’m Not Fasting”: Spirituality for Those Who Eat on Yom Kippur
Eating on Yom Kippur is becoming increasingly common among people who have health concerns or do not feel a spiritual connection to fasting. How can we find spirituality in eating on Yom Kippur? This class will explore spiritual practices and resources to nourish various forms of embodied connection to the holiday.
