Pull For A Soldier registration

Pull For A Soldier event

Trap shooters will be back in action for the second-annual PULL for a Soldier tournament Sept. 8 at the Gig Harbor Sportsman Club.

The tournament supports the Permission to Start Dreaming Foundation, a Gig Harbor-based foundation that raises funds for alternative therapy programs that help veterans and their families find a light through the darkness of post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD.

The number of veterans with PTSD is staggering.  The Department of Veterans Affairs estimates that between 11 percent and 20 percent of Iraq and Afghanistan War veterans are battling PTSD while the National Center for PTSD estimates that 30 percent of veterans who spend time in a combat zone will experience PTSD.

The Permission to Start Dreaming Foundation was created by founder Leslie Mayne after the death of her son U.S. Army PFC Kyle Marshall from PTSD.   Since 2011, the foundation has given around $250,000 for local programs that make life-changing differences for our veterans.
