Lailah Duke
Campus Missionary

Lailah is a San Francisco native who graduated from Howard University with a BFA in Dance. Following graduation in 2015, she worked with Dallas Black Dance Theatre for 6 years as a dancer and dance teacher. In year 5 of her time at DBDT, a co-worker, friend, and FOCUS grad studied the Bible with her and it was there that she fell madly in love with Jesus. As her love for Christ deepened, he made it clear to her that he was pulling her heart nearer to him, in a new direction, but she had no clue that it would mean college ministry. To her own shock and surprise, (and many other people’s too) she surrendered her dance career to the Lord and transitioned over to FOCUS to become a pastor in training in 2021. 4 years later, she is still here and still in shock at how God has continued to lead her on in FOCUS. Here’s to God’s plan and however many more years are to come.
