Director

I've been at UTD since I went as a freshman business student in 1997. So I've spent more than half my life at UTD! I'm an alumnus twice over, and I feel like I've grown up with UTD. When I came, there were less than a third as many students, less than a third as many buildings, and no campus ministries to speak of! But God called me to UTD as a high school senior, and he has yet to release me from that call. I got to be a part of a small group of students that started FOCUS as a student organization at UTD in the fall of 1998. For 10 years after receiving a masters in organizations & strategy, I was a bivocational campus missionary with FOCUS while also consulting for businesses. My clients included banks, a large insurance agency, and the Choctaw Nation. But my passion has been building a place on campus where people can get to know Jesus and serve him, a place where real friendships are forged and leaders are developed--basically, building what I wish had been on campus when I first showed up!

Now I serve as the executive director of FOCUS across all the campuses in DFW, but I also continue to serve as a campus missionary at UTD. I mentor pastors and student leaders, study the Bible one on one with seeking students, teach the Bible and leadership principles in various settings, and help our leaders think strategically about our mission and vision. I LOVE to learn, and in addition to constantly seeking new mentors and resources, I received a second masters degree in theology from Fuller Theological Seminary a few years ago.

My wife is the campus director for our FOCUS ministry at Collin College, and together we are working to raise up the next generation of leaders for churches in DFW and beyond. We want to play the long game, not just preparing students to impact students, but giving these young people a firm foundation of teaching and experiences to be amazing pastors, elders, teachers and more in the decades to come.
