Classics Concert Series: Glorious Reverberation
featuring Messe Solennelle Op.16

Saturday March 19, 2022 | 7 PM
First United Methodist Church of Mesa
15 E. 1st Avenue, Mesa AZ 85210

Regarded as the highlight of the late romantic organ masses, the centerpiece of our Classics Concert program, Louis Vierne’s Messe Solennelle Op. 16 composed in 1899, has been described as an harmonically opulent feast featuring the angelic voices of the choir in conjunction with the colorful grandeur of the pipe organ. Last performed in Arizona more than a decade ago, our Tour Choir, Young Men’s Ensemble, & Masters Men’s Choir will transport you to the Cathedral of the Rive Gauche/the Church of Saint Sulpice in France with the performance of this masterwork. The choral repertoire on our third concert series of the season also includes secular works and additional French sacred titles composed by professors, colleagues, and contemporaries of Louis Vierne. As a bonus, this performance will be preceded by a concert discussion from our artistic director, Herbert Washington, sharing the musical brilliance, life, and historical significance of Vierne’s choral and organ output on the repertoire of Western classical music.

Phoenix Boys Choir Concert COVID Protocols

The values that are embedded into the Phoenix Boys Choir program are one of its most important and lasting impacts on the boys we serve. They include service, caring for each other, leadership, empathy, working together towards a common goal and loyalty to the Phoenix Boys Choir participants and our community. It is these values that have served us and our choristers very well over the past 74 years.

It is also using these values and science that have guided the evolution of our COVID-19 protocols. The Phoenix Boys Choir is deeply committed to the health and safety of everyone, not only within our organization but also our concert patrons. To demonstrate that commitment, we can assure you that 100% of our staff are vaccinated. We are asking that 100% of our volunteers supporting this season's concerts be vaccinated as well. At this time, not all our choristers are eligible to be vaccinated. To protect everyone at our upcoming concerts, we have developed requirements listed below for our ticket holders. Specific health and safety protocols are subject to change. We will update audience health and safety protocols to align with public health agency guidance and will comply with the guidelines set by the CDC, our state and local governments, and the venues in which we perform. Changes will be clearly communicated in advance of any performance.

Ticket holders who do not comply with these protocols will not be admitted or asked to leave.
-  All guests, volunteers, and staff must wear masks and/or face coverings per CDC guidelines. Cloth face coverings shall be constructed with two or more layers of breathable fabric. Face coverings shall cover both nose and mouth and fit snugly along the sides of the face and securely under the chin. Please note that neck gaiters do not qualify as a face covering. We are happy to provide you a mask if you have forgotten yours.
-  Upon arrival, all patrons will have their temperature checked. Patrons with a temperature of 100.4 or higher will not be permitted to enter the space. In this event, tickets will be refunded in full and an opportunity to view our concert online will be offered.
-  Given that not all our choristers are eligible to be vaccinated, we would prefer our patrons to be vaccinated.
-  Please do not attend a performance if you have recently been exposed to a person with COVID-19, are experiencing symptoms, or have been sick with COVID-19 within the past 10 days.

All ticket sales are final, no refunds.
