Abrons Arts Center is the lifeblood of experimental visual and performing arts in New York City. For more than 100 years, Abrons has invested in the most exciting artists of our time and is the creative hub that gives access to the arts for our Lower East Side community and beyond. 

Where your contribution goes:

WHO: Artists in the performing arts, music and visual arts, art educators, students, and the communities we serve on the Lower East Side.

WHAT: Emerging and experimental performances, concerts and exhibitions, arts programs for children K-12, adult learners, seniors, and also our residency programs and practice spaces.

100% of all donations* goes directly into supporting the work we do at Abrons Arts Center and to the people we serve.

*Donations are deductible to the fullest extent of the law; $8 is deducted for tote recipients.

$1,000 covers eight sessions of mental health counseling in a public school for a child to address challenges at home and at school.

$400 underwrites an arts scholarship for a low-income student to grow confidence, creativity, and imagination.

$150 a career workshop for young people enrolled in our college access program

$50 provides essential supplies, such as diapers and food for a family living in our homeless shelters.

$25 purchases paper and pencils for a tutoring lesson for children in our after-school programs.

Alicia Mersy
is an artist and filmmaker of Lebanese/French origin, living and working in New York. She says, "This bag [GURU LOVE] is dedicated to the teachings and wisdom of all the gurus I have met, the past 2 years during COVID-19 in the streets of New York City.” Her work uses the camera to connect people to the divine, by forging pathways towards personal and collective peace. She is attracted to free spirits, radicals, and revolutionaries. Alicia creates space for conversations through video, documentary, photography and installations. Her work has been exhibited internationally in spaces like the Institute of Contemporary Arts (United Kingdom), Migros Museum of Contemporary Art (Switzerland) and UQ Art Museum (Australia).
