FREE Virtual Visit to Henry Street Settlement & Museum at Eldridge | Wednesday, May 27th at 2 p.m.
Where can new immigrants turn for help? Where do they find community? What safety nets are available in times of need? For millions of immigrants arriving to the Lower East Side at the turn of the 20th century, they found themselves asking these same questions. Neighborhood institutions offered an array of resources, advice, and communal support to newcomers navigating their new lives in America.
Join us for a virtual visit to the Lower East Side! First we’ll take a peek inside the breathtaking main sanctuary at the Museum at Eldridge Street and learn more about the community who worshipped there. Then we’ll tour the Henry Street Settlement to learn about the pioneering work of Nurse Lillian Wald and the support she provided to the community during the Progressive Era.
Designed for students in grades 4-8 and their families. RSVP below, and we'll send you a Zoom link to join us.
